Overview
An app was recently submitted to Apple and it was rejected due to Guideline 2.3.3 referring that the screenshots do not sufficiently show the app in use. The message received is similar to the one below.
2. 3 Performance: Accurate Metadata
Guideline 2.3.3 - Performance - Accurate MetadataWe noticed that your screenshots do not sufficiently show your app in use. Specifically, your 12.9-inch iPad Pro screenshots do not show the current version of the app in use.
To help users understand your app’s functionality and value, your screenshots should highlight your app's core concept. For example, a gaming app should feature screenshots that capture actual gameplay within the app.
Solution
The reason for this error is that Apple considers the current screenshots (for iPad) do not properly showcase the app in use and need to be reviewed. One can read the guidelines for section 2.3.3 on the Apple website.
To update the screenshots, follow the process below.
-
Log on to the CMS platform, and navigate to Publish.
- Update the affected screenshots (in this scenario the iPad ones) following the recommendations in How To Get Your App Approved By Apple.
Note that one can upload new images, or make use of the Screenshot Tool to take new screenshots from the app. - Once the screenshots have been updated, Republish the app by following the steps presented in our Help Center article on Publishing for iOS.
Testing
After the app is resubmitted with the updated screenshots, Apple should accept the submission without any errors.
