Overview
Your mobile app (iOS, Android, Windows, BlackBerry) must have a Privacy Policy if the app collects personal data from users. This article explains how you can update Google's Store Listing with your Privacy Policy URL.
Diagnosis
You need to update the Store Listing with your Privacy Policy URL when your app collects personal data from users, such as (this is not an exhaustive list):
- Email address
- First name
- Last name
You may get an error upon uploading your app on the Google Play Store. The most common are:
- 'Apps using these permissions in an APK are required to have a privacy policy set'
- "Violation of Families Policy Requirements" Android Rejection Error
- Violation of Personal and Sensitive Information and Section 4.8 of the Google Developer Distribution Agreement

- Having access to the Google Developer Account
Solution
Getting the Privacy Policy URL

Log in to the App Dashboard on the CMS platform.

Navigate to Settings -> App Screens

Scroll down and under the Privacy Policy URL section, copy the URL.
Providing the Privacy Policy Link

On your Google Developer Account, Open Play Console and go to the App content page (Policy > App content).

Under "Privacy Policy," select Start.
Note: If you’ve previously added a privacy policy and want to make changes, you’ll see and select Manage instead of start. -
Paste the copied URL in the Privacy Policy field .

Save your changes.

Continue with the remainder of the APK upload process.
Note: Should you wish to customize the default Privacy Policy URL from the CMS dashboard, please check the Using the Settings Feature KB article.
Testing
The APK upload process completes successfully without any errors.
