Overview
Upon installing a Google App on Android TV you got a "Your app has not been accepted into Android TV" error. This article provides information on how to resolve the rejection message and why our platform is not compatible with Android TV.
Diagnosis
You received the following error message or email from Google when installing an app on Android TV:
Publishing status: Rejected
Your app has not been accepted into Android TV.
See the entire message displayed in the Google Play Console:
This occurs when, during the APK upload and configuration in Google Play Console, you selected Android TV in the Pricing & Distribution menu. This allows the app to be distributed to Android TVs, but the app is not compatible or built for Android TV.
Solution
To resolve the rejection message, you have to disable the Android TV option:
-
Log in to Google Play Console.
-
Go to Pricing & Distribution > Android TV and opt-out.
-
Click Submit Update.
Even though the development process for Android TV is practically similar to that for Android, it has its specifics and guidelines that have to be respected and followed. Below are some of the guidelines for Android TV that BiznessApps is not designed to handle.
Technical Prerequisites
There is no touchscreen, sensors, GPS, camera, accelerometer, several other hardware features that have to be considered if being used in mobile apps. On the other hand, there is no battery to be depleted and, in general, fewer possibilities to interrupt the user (incoming calls, notifications, etc.).
Control
The app has to be prepared for Android TV remote controller.
Design
People usually watch TV from a greater distance compared to using a mobile app, so keep in mind that the BiznessApps apps interface is limited and cannot be read at a similar distance when watching TV.
Testing
You will not be receiving this error message.
