Overview
You were not able to remove your iOS app from the App Store Connect. This article explains why and how you can work around it.
Diagnosis
Upon trying to remove an app from My Apps in App Store Connect, you got the following error.
This app is unable to be removed right now.
This app can be removed from your account only if every version has one of the following statuses: Prepare for Submission, Invalid Binary, Developer Rejected, Rejected, Metadata Rejected, Developer Removed from Sale, or Removed from Sale.
This happens when the app is still available in the App Store, or it does not have one of the statuses listed in the error message above. This article provides the steps to remove the app from My Apps view.
Solution
WARNING: If you remove an app, you lose the ownership of the app name. You can only restore the removed apps if the app name is not currently in use by another developer account. Also, you cannot reuse the related SKU in the same organization, and if you have uploaded a build, you cannot use your bundle ID again.
- If the app does not have any of the statuses mentioned above, then first remove the app from the App Store. Once you do that, the app status changes to Removed from Sale, and then you can remove it from the My Apps view.
- Now follow the instructions in the Remove an app guide from Apple to remove it from the main view under My Apps.
Testing
You will have successfully managed to remove your iOS app from the App Store Connect Portal.
