Overview
The D-U-N-S Number is a unique nine-digit number that identifies business entities on a location-specific basis. Assigned and maintained by D&B, the D-U-N-S Number is widely used as a standard business identifier.
This article lists a few considerations regarding your client's D-U-N-S Number in an Apple Developer Program.
Information
- Your client’s D-U-N-S Number will be used to check the identity and legal entity status of their organization as part of their enrolment verification process for joining the Apple Developer Program.
- While many types of businesses can receive a D-U-N-S Number, your customer’s business must be recognized as a legal entity to enter into the legal terms and obligations of Apple Developer Program agreements. This includes the following:
- Corporations
- Limited partnership
- Limited liability companies
- The following are not accepted as legal entities by Apple even if they have a D-U-N-S Number:
- DBAs (Doing Business As)
- T/A (Trading As)
- Fictitious businesses
- Trade names
- Of course, if the customer is enrolling as an Individual, they do not need a D-U-N-S Number although there are more hurdles in publishing an app to an Individual developer account.
