Overview

If you no longer want your iOS app to be available to new app users, you can remove it from the Apple App Store, which removes all versions of the app.

We recommend you first unpublish/deactivate your app on the CMS panel since users with the app already installed will not have it automatically removed from their devices, and setting an inactive message will help them understand why the app is no longer functioning.

Once the app has been removed from the App Store, users with previous versions of the app will not be able to update the app, but they will be able to access the latest version or restore the app to a new device from backup.

To remove an iOS app, you must fulfill the following requirements:

• Have an active Apple Developer account with one of the following roles: Account Holder, Admin, or App Manager.
• The app needs to have one version whose status is Ready for Sale. 

Solution

1. Log in to your App Store Connect account.
2. Follow the procedure outlined in Apple's Remove an App from the App Store article.
3. Within 24 hours, the app won't be available anymore in the App Store.

Testing

• Your app will no longer appear in the App Store for users that haven't downloaded it.
  
• If you have configured an Inactive Message for your app, it will be displayed for any users that open your app if they had installed it before being removed.
• If after 24 hours, the app has not been removed from the App Store, please contact Apple Developer Support, as we cannot perform this removal.
