We have introduced a new way to look up addresses throughout the platform. Previously, you would fill out multiple fields (Street Address, City, State, etc.) to input a location. Now, the Google Maps lookup feature allows you to search for your location with one easy search bar, just as you can on maps.google.com.
Q: Why did you guys make this change?
A: The previous method, with multiple input fields, caused plenty of validation issues. If part of the address was incorrect or incomplete, users would have trouble getting directions. This new process makes it far easier for you to input an address and make sure it's correct.
Q: What else has changed?
A: When you search for a location or address, the Latitude & Longitude fields will auto-fill (no more lookup button). You can adjust the latitude/longitude to drop the pin at a more precise location. Also, if the location you're adding doesn't have a valid address, you can just opt to input the latitude/longitude on their own, without looking it up via Google Maps.
Q: Which tabs are affected?
A: Any tabs that involve location lookup (ex: Contact, Direction View, Events v2, etc.).
Q: Is this going to be further improved?
A: Definitely. We understand the Google Maps integration has caused some issues for international clients especially, and we'll be optimizing the system over the next few weeks. Specifically, Google Maps can't locate a good deal of international addresses, and if your location isn't found, then the list view of addresses has no viewable title. Stay tuned for improvements as we go, and please don't hesitate to send your feedback our way!
